4 Insider Tips for a Killer Zombie Party

It doesn’t take much to throw a spooky bash to remember. You just need to know where to start.
At Pillsbury, we don’t mess with stuff you won’t do. We prefer to spare you that depressing, “Who’s got time for that?” moment.
Instead, we focus on bringing you fresh ideas for stuff you will do. Like throwing a killer party with minimal effort and no stress. Here’s a little secret: The best parties have just a few simple details to set them apart.
While we were in the photo studios shooting the scene for our Zombie Party, Veronica Smith, our amazing prop stylist, and I kept chatting about our personal tricks for party-throwing success. We’re sharing them in hopes that you throw a total spookfest this Halloween, and that you have a great time doing it.
Start with What You Have
The theme is what your guests will have the most fun with, not the end result of your décor. Now that you’ve set the fun in motion by deciding on a zombie party, the rest is gravy. Hunt around your house for white bowls, dark table linens, burned-down candles or anything else to help set the tone. (We nabbed our branches from a neighbor who was pruning his trees.)
Hit the Stores
A few inexpensive props and accents will go a long way. We opted for hands of the undead and dip-dyed shredded cheesecloth to decorate the buffet table. Check out big-box stores such as Michaels, Target or Party City. Zombie displays are everywhere right now. And remember, you don’t need to go all out.
Make a Menu Board
Here’s where you can maximize your creativity on the cheap. We found an inexpensive Styrofoam gravestone and sprayed it with chalkboard paint for our menu board, then wrote on it with chalk markers. The real fun was planning the food and naming our zombie-themed treats.

Hospitality 101
If you’re like us, you’re rarely prepared when the doorbell rings. Here’s the good news: It doesn’t matter. Just make sure you have at least one snack prepared, such as Halloween Zombie Chex Mix, and be ready with the cocktails. Mix up a big batch of Bloody Pomegranate Cosmos and you’re ready to go.
