Vampire Juice Recipe
Source: http://cocktails.about.com/
Vampire Juice is like a Bloody Mary and depending on how you take your BM, this one has a slightly different, intriguing and somewhat scary profile, so it’s great for Halloween.
The horseradish and lime vodka are what makes this version interesting and they work rather well with the tomato juice mix. With the horseradish, it is best to use this in moderation and have some breath mints at the ready or people will be treating you like a vampire.
The eyeball ice cube may take a little more time to prepare (overnight) and if you have the patience to carve them, the effect is worth it. Here is a detailed tutorial with a few tips that should help the process: How to Make a Radish Eyeball.
Prep Time: 3 minutes
Total Time: 3 minutes
Yield: 1 Cocktail
INGREDIENTS
2 ounces Finlandia Lime Vodka
4 ounce tomato juice
1/2 teaspoon fresh horseradish
Splash of steak sauce
Splash of hot sauce
For eyeball ice cube garnish:
radish
green olive with pimento
PREPARATION
Build the liquid ingredients in a highball glass over ice cubes.
Stir well.
Add the seasonings to taste.
Garnish with a prepared eyeball by floating it in the drink, skewering it on a cocktail pick, or sticking it with a stirring fork.
For Radish Eyeball Garnish:
Peel radishes, leaving thin streaks of red skin on to represent blood vessels.
Using the tip of the vegetable peeler, or a small knife, carefully scoop out a small hole in each radish, roughly the size of an olive.
Stuff a green olive, pimiento side out, in each hole.
At this point, choose if you want to turn the eyeball into an ice cube or simply skewer it to rest on top of the drink. If opting for the ice, place one finished radish in each section of an ice cube tray (cutting it down if necessary), fill with water, and freeze overnight. If you don’t want the ice, simply place the finished eyeballs in a bowl of water and chill in the refrigerator until time for use.
